Series review: Lucifer season 1 (TV show, 2015 – )

{SPOILER FREE}

Heya! It’s been a while since I reviewed anything TV related, so I thought it’d be time for that again.

I’ll be honest with you, I haven’t really watched anything, until a while ago I rewatched all of Once Upon A Time (which I’ll review later, probably), and a week ago, I watched Lucifer. I did watch a few episodes somewhere last year, but since I couldn’t remember them, I just started from the beginning.

I’ve seen people review some series episode per episode, that’s not something I’ll be able to do. I’m the one who just binge watches everything in a week, and by then, it’s all a big story that I can’t review per episode. Besides, I hate spoilers and this is one way to avoid telling those! Also, I used to watch 20 shows and I am planning on watching them all (and maybe reviewing them) and there’s no way I could possibly keep up with all that 😛

Lucifer is a TV show on Fox, currently ongoing and during it’s second season. For this post, I’ll review only season 1, since season 2 hasn’t finished yet (currently waiting for the midseason premiere and it’s killing me!)

About: The devil takes vacation from hell and ends up in Los Angeles. The city of angels, and he isn’t one. He goes by the name of Lucifer Morningstar, owns a nightclub named Lux, and has the ability to have people tell him their deepest desires. When he meets detective Chloe Decker, he teams up with her, ending up as an LAPD consultant, helping Chloe to give the people the punishment they deserve. Together, they work out the most rare and supernatural crimes.

IMDB link: Lucifer (TV show)

While Lucifer (Tom Ellis) is the actual devil himself, Chloe (Lauren German)won’t believe him -and maybe that’s a good thing. His humor and cheekiness is fantastic, and Ellis does a wonderful job at playing him. The way Lucifer and Chloe talk, work together, and everything else is amazing, and even though there is some sexual frustration between them, it doesn’t get in the way of the plot. Throughout the episodes, you can see Lucifer change, and admittedly, Chloe too.

Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt), the demon who got out of hell with Lucifer, is the bartender at Lux, but more importantly, his only real friend in LA. She is one badass woman, a role model for all bad things.

Linda Martin (Rachael Harris), the psychologist he met while solving a crime, also seems to think everything Lucifer tells her about hell and himself is a metaphor. Lucifer however, seems to be needing their sessions even though she can’t see the truth.

In the meantime, Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside), Lucifer’s brother, tries to get him back to hell, where he belongs.

Overall this series is amazing, and the next episode couldn’t come soon enough (just another month of waiting…)! If you like a little bit of supernatural, lots of humor and a good plot, you sure as hell need to watch this show.

(oh and if that’s something you care about: Lucifer is amazingly hot, and the jokes he makes, the way he grins after making them, his interactions with Chloe… they only make it better)

What shows are you watching? Any recommendations for me? Would you like me to review more TV shows or movies? Tell me!

Until next time!

T5W: Fictional jobs you’d want to have

Heya! I am a day too late with this (almost a whole one, since it’s 11pm actually) and I’m sorry but the moving has been REALLY hectic. I hope to be back on track around next week, but I’m working full days from Sunday till next Friday (meaning my only day off to unpack is Saturday), so I can’t promise anything, sadly.

The Top 5 Wednesday is created by gingerreadslainey and hosted by Sam @Thoughts On Tomes. You can find the Goodreads group here.

–Any fictional career you’d want to have? Remember, T5W is always open to movies, tv, and video games as well.

Supernatural: Hunter

c7de54de17729e1a5a8a46cfb146574f

I’d love to tag along with Sam and Dean Winchester (and Castiel of course!) ❤ Although there are some really scary things going around, it’d be awesome

Doctor Who: Companion

cozdygexaaacyzc

I really love Doctor Who (and yes, I still have to start my rewatch and this time, actually finish the series for as far as possible!!) and it’d be amazing to travel with the Doctor!

X-Men: Teacher

xmenxaviersschool

I am generally not one to love teaching or anything but Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters is just wayy too awesome to not be part of it 😛

Avengers: Avenger

tumblr_nkpcouwohh1rn8j6eo4_500

Fighting for my life -and my friends too, to save the world?! Hell yes! Except the part where Civil War happens (just thinking about it hurts me again aaahhh) it would be amazing.

Vampire Academy: Dhampir

Yes, I am obsessed with this series, but being a Dhampir sounds awesome. You get to learn how to protect someone at all times, and yes, it may suck a little because love isn’t really possible, but honestly, it would be really cool.

Did you agree with the jobs I chose? What jobs would you like to have? Tell me!

I am only writing my Book Traveling Thursdays post after posting this and then going to sleep! Tomorrow, I gotta wake up at 7 again, move the last things to my own apartment, then work from 12 to 8.30 pm and then I’ll finally be able to enjoy an evening in my new house! 🙂

Beyond the Books – November

Hello! It’s December already, is it just me or does this year seem to fly by?

This wonderful idea is brought to you by Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much. Go give her a follow!

TV

  • As for TV I continued watching Breaking Bad but there’s so much dialogue, I can’t concentrate on it anymore! We usually watch it at late evenings or night and at that point I’m already tired from the day so yeah we kind of paused that
  • We did start Mr. Robot, which is a really nice series but it is starting to get weirder and weirder. Unlike Breaking Bad, this series doesn’t have a lot of dialogue. What it does have a lot is monologue haha.
  • I’m still watching Once Upon A Time, and oh my god all the plot twists! I’ll try to avoid giving any spoilers but if you watch it, please tell me!

Movies

This month I actually didn’t watch any movies, shocking, I know 😛 I was busier with sleeping and actually reading books again, so maybe next month!

Nails

Even my nails didn’t get a lot of attention! I did do some art, and even though it was only November, I was already in the Christmas spirit haha

Music

I recently got obsessed with Hammerfall again (mainly because it’s the first upcoming concert YAY) and I reviewed the new Green Day album, Revolution Radio, which you can view here.

And that’s already it! To be honest, December can go by fast af for me, I don’t really celebrate Christmas (got invited at my boyfriend’s parents though so that’s nice), and I just really want to be done with 2016 already.

How was this month for you?

Cliches Book Tag

So I got tagged (a LONG time ago, sorry for that! I couldn’t find the post oops) by Ugnè @MY PASSION IS HAPPINESS, thank you! Also, give a follow right away because I love her blog!

On to the actual post 🙂

Actions speak loud: A book that wasn’t or couldn’t be better than the movie

I’m going to cheat here and choose a series: The Mortal Instruments. I haven’t watched the series myself yet, but I’ve heard so many good things about it and I’ve seen some posts and I was just like “yeesss!” Even people who didn’t like the books at all loved the series so I’m really excited to start it. I personally really liked the books so I’m curious what the series will be 😀

The grass is always greener on the other side: A rags to riches, or a riches to rags story

The Hunger Games, I don’t know if that’s what this means, but Katniss went from poor and having to hunt for food to living in the richest part of the District and I think that’s pretty much rags to riches.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree: A parent-child relationship that you loved

I’m also kinda cheating here because I can’t come up with anything and choose Blood of Eden. The kinda parent-child relationship between Allison and Kanin is just amazing. Not trying to spoil anything but oh my god. (I always find a way to put Julie Kagawa in my blog posts don’t I 😛 )

You can’t judge a book by its cover: A great book that needs a better cover

The book Numbers, where the cover from my country looks like this:

49971cca77c035c7474a215ffc2368a6

I mean, yeah, now that I’ve read the books they’re awesome but this cover seems, to me, not that interesting. Good thing the title was kinds cool and the book sounded interesting from what I read on the back, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have picked it up.

You can’t please everyone: A book that you hated/loved that everyone else hated/loved

The Selection. Almost everyone I know is in love with this series and I’m just here like.. “??” I mean, I read the books (not all of them to be honest), I even reviewed the first book here, thought they’d get better, and finally reviewed the entire series here. But I just don’t see what makes this series so great.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger: A book you are a better person for having read

The Help, for sure. This book is simply so amazing and also so painful sometimes. It made me think about how bad the situation was, and how glad I am that it has somewhat bettered, but not enough yet. If you haven’t read it: go read it! There’s been a movie made out of it too, and it’s surprisingly amazingly done.

Love is blind: A book you know is bad, you don’t want to admit it, or a book you don’t want to read in case it’s bad

I am going to agree with what Ugnè (please tell me I got your name right) wrote on this one wit House of Night. I started the series once, and they were really great but after a few books it just got more confusing and there were a lot of plotholes. I didn’t really like it anymore, and I stopped reading. I think I got to book 5 or something. I may start reading this series again sometimes, but it’ll definitely not happen within this year.

There is no time like the present: Your favorite contemporary book

Hate List. This is one of the few books I can come up with, because so many books I read are absolutely not contemporary haha! It’s an amazing book to be honest, y’all should read it.

Better safe than sorry: A book you don’t want to read in case it’s bad

I’m going with Angelfall here. I have started it, but I just really can’t get through with it and I’m afraid it really sucks 😦 The story sounds really awesome and I honestly don’t know what’s holding me back..

And that’s all! I loved doing this tag, and I hope you enjoyed reading it 🙂

I tag:

Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much

Sahiba @Susannahhtaylor

Ali @I Wuv Books

And everyone else who wants to do this! 😀

This is an idea by Cátia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much, go give her a follow!

I didn’t really blog this month because I went on a vacation and got sick so I didn’t really feel like doing anything. But, I have some post ideas ready and I’m all back again!

TV

  • I started Breaking Bad with my boyfriend, and I must say: 2 episodes in, and I am very confused haha. I do like it though, so I hope we can watch all of it soon!
  • I am still not watching anything else besides Once Upon A Time, but honestly, that show, oh man. Every episode is just one big mess of happiness, sadness, and “oh-my-god-you-did-not-just-do-that”-moments. Y’all should watch it though, it’s amazing
  • I’m also considering watching Doctor Who again, I stopped watching somwehere halfway through because I didn’t have time any more but I’m working a little less now so I should be able to watch something again

Movies

  • I watched Groundhog Day, about a TV weatherman who relives the same day (which is Groundhog Day) over and over and over and over again. I got the idea to watch it from an episode of Supernatural (3.11 Mystery Spot), and it was a really funny movie
  • Other than that, I only rewatched Life As We Know It, where a man and a woman gotta take care of a baby when the baby’s parents died in a car crash. It’s a typical chick flick and I loved it as much as the first time I watched it haha

Nails

snapchat-5868922249398223574 snapchat-7338183295031997941img_20161020_212125

I did do some nail art this month, and as you can see, I’m very fond of dots (mostly because they’re easy to do and don’t take up a lot of time).

Music

img_20161021_180108

I bought another CD (because why wouldn’t I.. It’s not like I have any place left on my shelves oops), and I went to a concert, Lacuna Coil. They’re a really awesome band, check them out!

Also, Green Day’s Revolution Radio came out, and I love it! I’m really excited for the concert in January (did I tell you I got concert tickets for Green Day?? Because I did 😀 )

another release was Avenged Sevenfold’s The Stage, which is also really awesome. They’re coming to the Netherlands too, but I’m not sure if I’m going because it’s really expensive.. 😦

Other stuff

  • My sister’s birthday was friday the 28th, and so was my boyfriend’s graduation (for a bachelor at the uni), so I baked one carrot cake and one apple pie and they were delicious! I hadn’t baked in a while and it was really nice to do it again. Maybe I’ll share a receipe someday in the near future 🙂

img_20161027_235802 img_20161028_205817

  • For those who wonder, I don’t celebrate Halloween. I spent the night working and then straight up going to bed because I was so tired. I do hope y’all had a nice Halloween though!

What did you do the last month? Anything we have in common? Tell me in the comments!
