Top 5 Wednesday: Children’s Books

Catching up: Top 5 Wednesday! The Top 5 Wednesday is created by gingerreadslainey and hosted by Sam @Thoughts On Tomes. You can find the Goodreads group here.

–This can include Middle Grade (but try to recommend more than just Harry Potter and Percy Jackson!) Feel free to talk about your childhood faves or more recent reads.

1. Percy Jackson!

This is actually the first series I read in English (which is not my native language) when I was… 14 years old, I think? I had been getting English classes for only a year and a half by then, so I basically always recommend this series when someone wants to start reading in English xD The puns are quite understandable, and I’ll say, I also read the translated version and the puns were still there, so there’s that 🙂

2. Anything by Roald Dahl

This was basically my childhood, reading Mathilda and the Big Friendly Giant and James and the Giant Peach. I remember them all, loved them all

3. The Century series by Pierdomenico Baccalario

I will include the Goodreads link here, because it took me way too long to find it and I don’t want y’all going through that trouble 😛 This is one of the series I really enjoyed reading when I was younger. I do not remember a lot of it, but the books were big and that’s what was important to me (I’ve always been a fast reader, going through 15-20 books a week at that time).

Unfortunately, that’s about it.. I absolutely don’t remember all the books I’ve read in my childhood. I do have one honorary mention though, for the Dutchies here.

Honorary mention: De Schippers van de Kameleon

This series was absolutely my entire childhood. It consists of 69 books and I have read all of them, and they were wonderful. They’ve never been translated, which is why I didn’t add them in my original Top 5, but I think almost everyone from the Netherlands has heard of/read this series 🙂

And that’s it! Do you have any favorite children’s books?
