Book Traveling Thursdays is created by Cátia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog. This weekly meme consists in picking a book related to the weekly theme that is announced in the group Goodreads page (if you want to join click here) at the beginning of each month. After that you can write a blog post where you explain why you choose that book and choose different covers from different countries. To make it a little bit easy you are going to choose different editions of the original cover, the cover from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover.
Here’s to different worlds… Choose a book set in a fictional world.
I’m going with the Discworld series, and because I can’t choose, I’m going with the first book: The Color Of Magic by Terry Pratchett. I really love this series, and even though I’ve read maybe 6 books yet, I am planning on reading the others too. The only problem is, I used to borrow them from a friend, and they aren’t really talking to me any more so yeah… Really sad because this series is amazing!
Original (and favorite) cover:
This cover is really nice, it looks old (and it is, because it’s published in 1985), but it doesn’t even matter, because this is 100% fantasy, and fantasy never gets old 🙂
Cover from my country (the Nehterlands):
It’s the same cover, luckily. However, I don’t know what it is, but I usually don’t really like the translations of book titles, and this one just makes me want to stab my eyes. For some reason, the entire Discworld series in Dutch just makes me cringe for eternity.
Least favorite cover(s):
. The first one seems way too childish (sorry) and while this book may seem a little childish, there’s a lot of wit and sarcasm children won’t understand. Besdies, Death is a very reappearing character, and I don’t think that’ll go well in a kid’s book. Or maybe it’s just because I don’t like the drawing style.
As for the second one, yellow almost never does it for me, I don’t know why haha.
The third one looks way too dark, and if I didn’t know it, I’d think it was a kind of scary book -and if there’s one thing that it isn’t, it’s scary.
Do you know this series? I highly recommend them as light reads in between other books!
